“Solo jazz” with Katja (Friday)
You can add those 3 hours of classes on the top of your PARTY / FULL pass.
- Movement and Foundation
Build your solo jazz basics through classic steps, rhythm, and groove. Strengthen your technique, musicality, and body awareness to move with authentic jazz style and confidence. - Call and Response (Discovering Improvisation)
Explore the heart of jazz through playful call-and-response exercises. Learn to improvise, listen, and communicate through rhythm and movement within a set structure. - Choreography 101
Create, connect, and perform! Learn how to build and interpret a solo jazz routine while developing transitions, phrasing, and personal expression.
Lindy hop levels overview
* Lindy hop / LEVEL 1 – You take Lindy Hop classes at least for 1,5 year. You can lead/ follow basic steps with no errors and can mix in more difficult figures already. You know at least these steps/ figures – variety of 6/8 count figures, swing out, inside/ outside turn, Tuck turn, Texas Tommy, flying Charleston, tandem Charleston. You should be also familiar with basic jazz steps. There will be no audition for this level.
* Lindy hop / LEVEL 2 – You take classes for several years and travel to international camps/ workshops already. You have no problem with leading/ following. You know variety of figures and can improvise to music. You can handle faster music as well. You should be also familiar with wide variety of jazz steps. There will be no audition for this level.
* Lindy hop / LEVEL 3 – This level is for dancers who already know everything mentioned in the previous level description. You are a key person in your local scene, you go to social nights regularly and you go regularly also to international festivals and have developed your distinct style as a dancer. You quickly learn new moves and footwork and can make up your own variations. Musicality, partnership, and creativity are familiar concepts. There will be no audition for this level.
* Lindy hop / LEVEL 4 – Besides everything mentioned in the previous levels description you have no problem with improvisation, solo dancing and dancing to really fast and also slow music. You may be skilled in other dance techniques such as balboa, shag, Charleston, etc. There will be no audition for this level.
* Lindy Hop / LEVEL 5 “Show & Competition” – This is INVITATIONAL level for skilled dancers who are at least the LEVEL 4 (please read the description) + they may teach locally or even internationally already and they participate regularly in competitions and make it to the finals.
To apply for this level please choose “LEVEL 4” and click “Yes” in the next step. You will need to add the link to video of you dancing Lindy Hop. We cant process the application to this level without a video. Thank you for understanding.
Please note – if you get the invitation to this level you will be working most of the time with your partner. So make sure your partner apply as well in separate form.
Please note if you are not invited to this level we consider your registration to be for LEVEL 4.
We will send the invites to this level latest by the mid January.
